Our capital is more diverse than almost any other city, making it one of the most popular travel destinations among European cities.
Charlottenburg – A District Full of Possibilities
Although the district is considered one of the more upscale areas of the capital, home to Kurfürstendamm and Charlottenburg Palace, you don’t need a bulging wallet to experience and discover amazing things here.
As one of 12 districts, it was only united with the former Wilmersdorf district in January 2001. Bus M29 goes directly to Kurfürstendamm.
Discovering Berlin Charlottenburg
The Old Town Tour offers a walk with 16 stops showcasing important historical sites.
Anyone in Berlin strolls along Kurfürstendamm, where exclusive shops primarily offer high-end designer fashion.
The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church serves as a memorial to the victims of National Socialism and is one of the most famous landmarks in the district.
Furthermore, the Olympic Stadium, the exhibition grounds with the Radio Tower, the Schiller Theater, and the Deutsche Oper are also worth a visit.
Charlottenburg Palace – an absolute must: modeled after the French Palace of Versailles, the palace was built between 1695 and 1699 as a summer residence for the consort of Elector Frederick III.
Food and Nightlife
At the café “What do you fancy love?” on Knesebeckstraße, the staff only speak English. You’ll get a delicious breakfast, homemade cake, and super tasty freshly squeezed juices.
The “Schwarze Café” at Savignyplatz has been around since 1978 and turns into a bar in the evenings. Except for Tuesdays, you can get delicious food here 24 hours a day.
If you love cake like grandma used to make, you should plan a detour to Café Richter at Giesebrechtstraße 22.
