Most Berliners indignantly reject the claim that currywurst was not invented in Berlin. It is said that restaurateur Herta Heuwer (1913-1999) first served the typical curry sauce with fried sausage at her snack stand at the intersection of Kant- and Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße in Charlottenburg starting in September 1949.
