The dark and evil have always fascinated humanity. Berlin’s underground is a world of its own, well worth exploring. Follow the Berliner Unterwelten e.V. into the dark depths of German history during National Socialism and the German division during the Cold War.
Adventure Beneath the City: A Tour Through Berlin’s Bunkers
Only because demolishing the bunker systems after World War II would have endangered Berlin’s subway system can they still be visited today. Some entrances are inconspicuous, such as the green door in Gesundbrunnen subway station. Behind it lies a mysterious world of air-raid shelters and subway shafts decommissioned during the Cold War.
The individual guided tours offered by Berliner Unterwelten e.V. are themed around specific structures and limited to about 90 minutes. “Tour 2 – From Flak Tower to Rubble Mountain” focuses on the Flak Tower ruin in Volkspark Humboldthain.
From the Hostel to the Berlin Underground
All meeting points are directly at Berlin-Gesundbrunnen subway station. From our location at Stresemannstraße 66, the best way to get there is by taking an S-Bahn (lines S1, S2, or S25) from Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn station seven stops to Gesundbrunnen. This takes only about fifteen minutes.
