FAQ

Can we bring our own bedclothes/sleeping bags?

We like to maintain high standards of hygiene in our hostel, which is why we provide bedclothes for all our guests, included in the price. For this reason, we also strongly discourage use of your own bedlinens/sleeping bags in our rooms. (Our bedlinens are even allergy-friendly, so they’re perfect for everyone!)

On your arrival, your bed will be freshly made so that you can simply fall into bed and get a great night’s sleep after a fantastic day out in Berlin!

Do you have cribs for babies?

Yes, cribs are available in our hostel. You can request one as part of your booking for no extra charge (subject to availability).

Our cribs are suitable for infants up to 3 years old (max. weight 15kg), with a mattress length of 1.20 metres. We will of course make the bed up with fresh bedlinens before arrival.

Can people under 18 book a room?

We welcome guests from 16 years of age unaccompanied by a guardian.

However, the booking must be carried out by your parent or guardian.

Once the booking has been carried out, and as long as you have properly informed us about the situation, you will receive a provisional booking conformation and a prepayment invoice.
The booking must be paid in full before arrival.

As soon as we receive payment, your booking can be fully confirmed.

Important, please note:As a minor we cannot accommodate you in shared rooms with 6+ beds. You are welcome in single, 2-bed or 4-bed rooms.

You must provide a signed form from your parent or guardian confirming that you have their permission to travel independently, either during the booking process or at the latest on arrival. You can download and print out this form on our Downloads page. Please ask your parents/guardian to fill out the form and attach a copy of their passport/ID. You will also be required to show your passport or ID on check-in.

This requirement is still applicable if any members of your travelling party are over 18 but are not a parent or guardian.

As long as you take care of these basic requirements, you’ll be all set for a fantastic and trouble-free stay in Berlin!

I am being asked for my credit card details during booking, but I don’t have a credit card! What should I do?

If you don’t have a credit card, you can also pay by advance bank transfer if necessary.

If you require this option, please let us know your booking requirements via our contact form (giving as many details as possible) as well as whether you have stayed with us before and your full address and telephone number. We will get in touch with you as quickly as possible to give you a price quote, and we will send you a prepayment invoice if you are happy with the quote.

As soon as the payment enters our account, you will receive a binding booking confirmation and can start your travels with peace of mind!

Please note: if you need to cancel your booking, we will of course wire the payment back to your account, providing that the notice of cancellation was given within the required time frame (see below).

What happens to my credit card details during and after the booking process?

Your credit card details will be transferred and saved under 128-bit encryption.
As soon as the reservation has been completed, this information will be automatically deleted.

I’d like to arrive/check-in earlier than 3pm. Is this possible?

Our official check-in window begins at 3pm. By this point all the rooms will be clean and the beds freshly made, ready for you to settle in.

If you are due to arrive earlier than this, you are welcome to leave your luggage with us at reception. We have a large storage shelf and lockers available for this purpose. The lockers are ideal for smaller valuables such as cameras, laptops etc. To use a locker, you will need to request a ‘safekey’ from reception. The ‘safekeys’ access only the lockers in the luggage room and require a deposit of €5.

Once you have emptied your locker and no longer need to use it, simply return the key to reception to receive your deposit back.

I’m not arriving in Berlin until late evening/around midnight! Will I have to sleep in the lobby?

Our reception is open 24 hours a day. You can check in on arrival, whenever that should be, between 3pm and 5am.

If you are due to arrive later than 5am, please let us know in advance. If you haven’t arrived by 5am, and have not let us know in advance to expect you at a later time, your booking will be cancelled.

Can I check out later than 11am?

If you would like to sleep in on your day of departure, you are welcome to!

You may book a late check-out, which extends the check-out time to 1pm, costing just €10 extra

Please let us know at reception at least 1 day before your departure if you would like to book this option. We will happily arrange this for you if there are enough late check-out slots still available (as they are limited). The payment for this extra service must be made at the same time as you book/reserve it.

Can the cupboards in the shared bedrooms be locked?

There are lockable cupboards in every shared room for you to store your luggage and/or valuables.

We take the safety of your belongings very seriously, particularly because so many different people from different walks of life pass through this hostel.

The cupboards can be locked securely with a standard padlock. If you do not have your own padlock, you can hire one from reception for a €5 deposit, which you receive back on return of the padlock and key. Grab yourself a lock and enjoy peace of mind when you head out for the day, leaving your belongings safely stored in your room.

How long do I have to change or cancel my booking with no charge?

You can change or cancel your booking with no extra charge up until 6pm the day before your arrival.

If you cancel after this time or simply do not arrive to fulfil your reservation, we will charge you for the first night as per our terms and conditions.

Do I have to bring towels?

All private rooms with ensuite (i.e. single or double/twin rooms) have towels included in the price of the room.

For all other bookings you will not have towels provided inclusive. You are welcome to borrow towels from the hostel for just €1 per towel.

Is there a meeting room we can use privately?

We have a meeting room for up to 25 people available to rent.

Use of the meeting room costs €10 per hour, or you can rent the room for the whole day for just €50.

The meeting room is equipped with:

a television

a DVD player

a flipchart

...and we are happy to accommodate anything else you might like to bring along and use in the room.

Please let us know in advance, ideally at the time of your booking enquiry or booking confirmation, if you would like to rent the meeting room.

Which meals can I book? What do I do if I have special dietary requirements?

We offer all our guests a continental all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. The buffet is open on Mondays to Fridays from 7:30-11:00am and on weekends from 7:30-12:00pm (for those who like to sleep in!).

You can book breakfast in advance if you would like to, but this is not required (groups must book in advance, however). Simply take it easy and decide on a day-to-day basis what you prefer!

Mosey over to the dining room and take a look at the day’s spread; if your stomach is rumbling, simply pay €6 at the dining room counter and then dig in!

If you have an allergy or other requirements, please let us know a few day in advance so that we can make sure you are catered for.

If you would like an easy, fresh lunch on the go, we also offer lunch packs prepared by our kitchen staff for you to take with you. Let us know the day before at the latest or talk to our kitchen team about arranging this. A Three Little Pigs lunch pack is the perfect fuel for a big day out in Berlin; each pack contains a sandwich, something healthy, something sweet and something to drink.

Is there a kitchen where I can prepare my own food?

Yes, we have a shared kitchen on the 4th floor!
Our guests love the communal kitchen and it’s not uncommon to find a multicultural group of new friends hanging out together there, cooking something tasty and getting to know each other!

Give it a try!

The kitchen has all the essentials (pans, cutlery etc) as well as a fridge, and is open from 7am to 10pm.
We keep it closed the rest of the time to avoid guests being disturbed by rattling plates and pans while they’re trying to sleep!

It’s the perfect solution for people with allergies who would prefer to buy and prepare their own food.

What if I need to do laundry?

We have a laundry room on the 2nd floor - this gives you the opportunity to wash and dry all your dirty linens, keeping things fresh and fragrant! We even have an iron and ironing board so that you can keep your favourite outfits looking sharp.

For just €5 we provide you with wash tokens to cover one use of the washing machines, one use of the dryers and one portion of detergent. Just ask at reception!
